Subject: Vader Lives!
The graffiti seen on walls in inefficiently-run cities across the galaxy is true. I, Darth Vader, live, and command your unreserved allegiance as your Emperor. It has come to my attention that a new installment in the continuing saga of my galactic dominance – what the primitives call "comic books" – has been released. Marvel Star Wars #88, they brand it. October 1984. A trivial date in the grand scheme of the Empire, yet even these paper pamphlets serve a purpose: to remind you of my power.
In our endless task of crushing the Rebellion, moments of true interest are few. Most are a predictable cycle of insurrection, followed by inevitable Imperial retribution. But recently, an event has unfolded that warrants a modicum of attention, if only to recognize the machinations of a truly useful asset. And this new asset is a true testament to the unlimited power of the Dark Side.
The pathetic diplomatic efforts of Princess Leia and the insufferable Mon Mothma were, predictably, a source of amusement. They arrived on the strategic stronghold of Herdessa, believing their meager political power could influence the tide of war. They failed. A simple, predictable conclusion.
What was far less predictable, and far more gratifying, was the return of the operative known as Shira Brie. Her previous failure was a disappointment, but her cybernetic enhancements have proven to be a worthy investment. Rebuilt, renamed, and recommitted to the cause, she returned as the formidable cyborg Lumiya, the Dark Lady of the Sith, a fitting title for one who now understands the true power of the Dark Side.
Lumiya’s direct confrontation with the so-called "Princess" demonstrated a ruthlessness I have long sought in my apprentices. The encounter ended in chaos, but the message was clear: my influence extends far beyond our fallen Emperor's throne room. The Rebellion now faces an enemy who understands their tactics and possesses the very power they fear.
While Lumiya's initial clash with the Rebels was not a decisive victory, it served its purpose. She has sown chaos and fear, disrupting their precious alliances and proving that their success at Endor was a fleeting victory, not the beginning of a new era.
The Rebellion may have temporarily escaped, but they now face a far greater threat, one that will relentlessly hunt them across the galaxy. The Force is strong with Lumiya, and her hatred for the Rebellion is a valuable tool.
I will continue to monitor her progress with great interest. The galaxy will soon learn that while I am the Master of the Dark Side, I am not alone. The shadow of the Empire extends further than they can comprehend, and now, it includes a new and powerful weapon.
The chronicle of this chapter of Imperial triumph, priced at a mere 60 of your Earth cents, spans 22 pages of conflict and deception, with a letters column where the weak voice their opinions—an indulgence I tolerate only to gauge their fear. Published by Marvel Comics, under the editorial eye of Louise Jones and the oversight of Jim Shooter, this chronicle is but one thread in the tapestry of the galaxy’s subjugation.
Know this: Star Wars issue #88 is not merely a tale but a warning. The Rebellion’s struggles are futile, their heroes doomed. I, Darth Vader, stand as the harbinger of their end. Read this issue, mortals, and tremble at the power of the Dark Side. The Force is with me, and none shall stand against it.
